On 24th May 2014 between 11:00 – 15:00 CET Empty the Tanks worldwide campagne also took place @Tiergarten Nuremberg / Germany.
As the organizer of this event, I tried to „recruit“ as many dedicated animal activists as possible and at the peak we had 278 applications via facebook. Finally approx. a bunch of 125 passionate dolphin activists were on the ground! Everything was quite peaceful, but we tried to be „loud“ and also got quite some media coverage … please see the images to get an impression of what was going on!

This year, Sea Shepherd will start its operation GrindStop at the Faroe Islands starting in June.

The 18th May was a very, very sad day on the Faroe Islands as a pod of 13 pilot whales were brutally murdered, though the „official“ season did not start yet.

This insanity must stop!!!
These bloodlust-crazed whale killers have to be stopped!!!

In November 2013 I have traveled from Germany to Japan to be a voice for the dolphins of Taiji.
There I met Rachel Carbary, who I stood strong side by side as a Cove Guardian. She told me about her movement of „Empty the Tanks worldwide“ and asked me to maybe initiate an event for Germany and I promised to do my best to do so.

And here we go, currently we have 243 registrations for the event in Nuremberg / Germany@ Tiergarten & Delfinlagune, which turned out to be a first success.
The event itself will be a success for sure as we all stay strong together and let the Tiergarten know what we think about this kind of enslavement of dolphins in concrete tanks.

This is the facebook event page link:

All dedicated dolphin lovers can hardly wait to give the dolphins their voice.

Please read below Rachel Carbary´s thoughts of „Empty the Tanks“

Empty the Tanks Worldwide was an idea that first began while I was in Taiji, Japan as a Cove Guardian. I knew coming home would be difficult and I wanted to find a way to continue making a difference. That was how Empty the Tanks got its start.

This isn’t a radical movement to release all the captive marine mammals into the wild. Some of these animals might be great candidates for release, but those that are not should be retired into sea pens, where they can enjoy the rest of their days in natural seawater, feeling the waves of the ocean around them. They should not be worked until their last breath is taken and then thrown out like trash and replaced.

These entertainment parks have no place in the 21st century. We know the level of awareness these animals have. We know their social connections, their eating habits, and natural wild behaviors. You cannot breed natural instincts out of an animal in a handful of generations. These are incredibly social, intelligent beings that are being used to make money. It is animal slavery, and it needs to be brought to the general public’s attention.

Empty the Tanks Worldwide is a public awareness campaign. It is a opportunity to educate the general public about a situation they are simply ignorant to. These annual events will allow activists to reach the public all over the world in a positive and productive way.

Please join us and help get the message out.

Together we can make a stand, make some noise, and empty the tanks worldwide.

… in May 2014 we had this incredible boat trip with „I.C.E.N.A.i“, a marine biologist on board and only a very little group … it was awesome.
humans should remember our beautiful world and oceans, rather than destroying them each and every day.

everyone can make a difference … BE EVERYONE!

…we spotted „bryde whales“, „common dolphins (delphinus delphis)“ and „red tunas“

just watch and enjoy!!!

The moment I arrived in Taiji I felt the negative vibes of this small village! Travelling there, I did not quite know what to experience the following days and weeks, but all I visualised what I will see and encounter was nothing compared to the reality I faced.

I witnessed and experienced the worst things one could see and I still cannot believe and understand how humans are able to disrespect ocean life, as the fishermen of Taiji do! Everything was so surreal but unfortunatley it was not! All the greed, the dolphin killing, the blood, captivity, screams, the suffering dolphins, the killers … was real!

Taiji will for ever be in my heart and my thoughts and I will come back if necessary to stop this insanity – it is just NOT right!

I am very proud to be a part of the Cove Guardian family and the picture collage should express some of my experiences and „work“ in Taiji!
